In connection with Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine, political strategist Kateryna Odarchenko stated that for many European Union countries, opposing Kremlin aggression is not just a geopolitical issue but a matter of real survival. Speaking on the FREEДOM TV channel on December 5, she emphasized the importance of active EU and NATO involvement in negotiations with Russia, as the threat to the security of European nations and the civilized world continues to grow.
Odarchenko pointed out that EU countries are currently providing far more aid to Ukraine than the United States, especially on a per capita basis. The Baltic states and other Eastern European countries bear a much heavier burden of supporting Ukraine than American citizens, in dollar terms.
“This is because Russia’s war against Ukraine is a war on European soil. Russia is waging a hybrid war not only in Ukraine but also in many EU countries, through election interference, disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, and other tactics,” Odarchenko explained.
She also emphasized that for the Baltic states and Poland, which took the first blow during Russia’s full-scale invasion, supporting Ukraine has become a matter of survival.
“Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia’s goal is not only the territory of modern Russia but also the former Soviet Union, including the Baltic states. For these countries, the security of Ukraine is not a theoretical issue but their physical survival,” Odarchenko stressed.
She concluded by noting that Russia’s hybrid wars are having a serious and detrimental impact on EU countries, underscoring the urgency for them to more actively engage in the fight against Kremlin aggression.
